Status report on the DNS in Egypt
  Following the recent civil unrest in Egypt, there has been great concern for the people of Egypt and also for their ability to use the Internet. This was exacerbated on 27 January when most Internet connectivity to Egypt was shut down, apparently on the instruction of the national government. This has led to the inaccessibility of the main domain name system (DNS) server of the Egyptian ccTLD (.EG).

Nearly 25% of global Internet traffic involves the illegal distribution of copyrighted work
  A comprehensive new study has recently been released by NetNames' sister company Envisional which found that 23.8% of global Internet traffic involves digital theft, with BitTorrent accounting for almost half (11.4%)

Short and numeric-only .TEL domains approved
  Telnic Limited, the registry of .TEL domains has announced approval from ICANN for short and numeric-only domains.

Skype wins domain name dispute
  The domain names in question were SkypeChina.com and ChinaSkype.net and were owned by China Online Limited. The domains resolved to a website which advertised China Online's business and listed an extensive domain name portfolio.

The new gTLD program - latest update
  The resolutions from ICANN's most recent board meeting, held on Tuesday 25 January has prompted speculation that ICANN is determined to reach final conclusions about outstanding issues regarding the new gTLD program at the San Francisco meeting in March 2011.

New ccTLDs created
   Following the breakup of the Netherlands Antilles in October 2010, three new country-code top-level domains (ccTLD) have been created to represent the new nations.
